LIBESKIND DESIGNED ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM SELECTED BY CONDE NAST TRAVELER AS ARCHITECTURAL WONDER OF THE WORLD

Michael Lee-Chin Crystal Honored by Distinguished Magazine

The Royal Ontario Museum has been selected as one of Conde Nast Traveler’s “New 7 Architectural Wonders of the World.”  Designed by Daniel Libeskind, the ROM is situated on one of the most prominent intersections in downtown Toronto and the Museum has become a dynamic center for the city.  The Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, as the extension is known, opened in June of 2007 and has provided the city with dynamic new architecture, the creation of a great public attraction and 100,000 sq. ft. of new exhibition space.

Libeskind said, “We're excited and honored by Conde Nast's recent recognition of the Royal Ontario Museum as a modern architectural wonder.  The program of the ROM provided a wonderful opportunity for dramatic architecture and the creation of a great public attraction.

“This building tells a uniquely specific story which crystallizes the ROM’s programmatic content and the singularity of the site.  The Crystal transforms the character of ROM into an inspired atmosphere, dedicated to the resurgence of the Museum as the dynamic center of Toronto.”
