DANIEL LIBESKIND LECTURES AT LONDON FESTIVAL OF ARCHITECTURE

Breaking Ground: Daniel Libeskind in Conversation

Daniel Libeskind will deliver a lecture focusing on architecture and society entitled Breaking Ground, moderated by Dejan Sudjic, Tuesday, June 24 from 6:30 – 8:00pm at the London Festival of Architecture, British Library, 96 Euston Road, London.

An architect is creator of the new, sometimes on a grand scale, but is simultaneously involved in cutting into places and spaces that may hold great social and environmental significance. This process of re-shaping the world may offer great hope at the same time as it entails struggle and compromise.

Daniel Libeskind is one of the world’s foremost architects; best known for designing The Jewish Museum in Berlin and The Imperial War Museum North in Manchester, and for his role in the planned rebuilding of the World Trade Centre, New York. His ideas have influenced a new generation of architects and those interested in the future development of cities and culture. Deyan Sudjic is Director of the Design Museum, London and former architecture critic for The Observer.

The London Festival of Architecture runs from 20 June – 20 July and includes street installations, exhibitions, guided walks, cycle rides, boat tours of the city's river and canals, parties, design workshops, debates, breakfast talks, and weekend street markets.
