DANIEL LIBESKIND TO DELIVER KEYNOTE IN BUDAPEST ON THE RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPLICATIONS OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE

Architect Daniel Libeskind, will be a featured speaker at the upcoming International Convention of Architecture in Budapest, Hungary. The event, hosted by the Architecture Congress of Budapest, will focus on architecture in site and age as well as the influence of the arts and time on modern architecture.

Mr. Libeskind will encourage Hungarian, Austrian, Romanian, Czech, and Slovakian architects to go beyond conventional wisdom that architecture is ageless and immovable, bound to the landscape and materials. Questions to be addressed at the conference include:

·   Where is architecture's place in space and time today?

·   Can regionalism take the place of styles as an adequate solution?

·   In the age of globalization, is it possible to have local solutions in architecture?

·   Is it necessary to follow the latest architectural trends?

·   Is the absence of fashion also a fashion?

The conference is organized by Business Media Hungary which publishes Central and Eastern European architectural digests: Alaprajz (Hungary) Architektur.aktuell (Springer Verlag, Vienna, Austria), Bauwelt, DBZ (Deutsche Bauzeitschrift, Bau Verlag, Gütersloh, Germany) and Stavba (Prague, Czech Republic).

Sponsors include the Hungarian Ministry, Hungarian Chamber of Architecture, Hungarian Architectural Association, Hungarian Chamber of Engineering, and the Budapest University of Technology’s Department of Architectural Engineering (BME).
