25th Anniversary of Conference Unveils Impressive Line-up of Speakers at New Home in Long Beach, California
This year’s 25th annual TED Conference is almost here – a forum for bringing together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, challenging them to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes), at TED 2009 “The Great Unveiling,” February 3-7, Long Beach, CA. Daniel Libeskind will kick off a panel on Thursday, February 5, from 2:15 – 4:00 PM PST.
What started in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from the areas of Technology, Entertainment and Design, has today become a worldwide community of thinkers from every intellectual and artistic discipline. Over four days, 50 speakers will each take an 18-minute slot for their presentations, in addition to the multitude of shorter pieces of content offered, including music, performance and comedy. This year, in celebration of TED’s 25th anniversary, everyone on the program will be premiering something: a thrilling discovery, a revolutionary idea, a powerful invention, a spectacular piece of art, a first-time performance. Also premiering this year will be TED’s brand new home at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center in California.
Daniel Libeskind is one of the world’s foremost architects; best known for designing The Jewish Museum in Berlin, the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester, and for his role in the planned rebuilding of the World Trade Center in New York. His ideas have influenced a new generation of architects and those interested in the future development of cities and culture.
