The New Center for Arts and Culture, sponsored by Combined Jewish Philanthropies and the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston, will be a centerpiece in the Rose Kennedy Greenway.  The Greenway is a 27-acre ribbon of newly created parkland that runs through downtown Boston replacing the elevated Central Artery.  The New Center will be located between Rowes Wharf on the waterfront and the financial district.  To complete this project, SDL is working with the New Center for Arts and Culture in Boston and Einhorn Yaffe Prescott Architecture & Engineering P.C.

The New Center will provide facilities which will enable its central concept: using the arts and humanities to build community and common ground.  It includes a transformable performance theater that can accommodate dance, theatre, music, lectures and film, museum-quality galleries that can host a wide array of exhibitions, hands-on exploration areas and seminar and meeting rooms.  The building will also include a cultural café, a rooftop terrace and a magnificent atrium, which will become a gathering space where visitors can connect, discover and celebrate.  Lively outdoor plazas featuring a culture café, fountains and sculpture extend from each end of the building, bringing the creative energy of the Center and its exhibits to the street.
